Automatización de corte Corte por plasma
El corte por plasma bajo agua no es nada nuevo: se realizó por primera vez a mediados de la década de los 70. Pero aún presenta numerosas ventajas que llevan a muchos fabricantes, centros de servicio de acero y constructores a preferirlo al corte en seco. Se usa una "cortina de aire" o "silenciador de burbujas" para crear una bolsa de aire alrededor del extremo delantero del soplete de plasma, protegiendo el arco del agua. Pero no todos los espesores de cada material se pueden cortar bajo el agua. ¿Cuáles son los límites y qué sucede si se sobrepasan?
El acero dulce se puede cortar bajo el agua hasta 5 cm de espesor. Esto se logra con 450 amperios y plasma de oxígeno; la placa se sumerge por debajo de 5 a 7,5 cm de agua. Con menos de 5 cm no se reduce el ruido y el deslumbramiento del arco por debajo de los límites aceptables.
Afortunadamente, 5 cm es el límite de perforación para el corte por plasma en acero dulce, por lo que realmente no hay necesidad de superar el límite. Si trata de aumentar el espesor y comenzar con el borde, digamos hasta 7,5 cm de grosor, se reduce significativamente la velocidad de corte solo para hacer el corte y se produce mucha más escoria en la parte inferior del corte.
El acero inoxidable y el aluminio de hasta 5 cm de espesor se puede cortar bajo el agua. Esto se logra con 600 amperios y plasma de nitrógeno o hasta 720 amperios y plasma con inyección de agua. Al igual que con el acero dulce, la placa se sumerge de 5 a 7,5 cm por debajo del nivel del agua. Con menos de 5 cm no se reduce el ruido y el deslumbramiento del arco por debajo de los límites aceptables.
El corte bajo agua no se debe realizar con gases inflamables, como argón-hidrógeno (H35) o metano (CH4), porque el exceso de gas puede quedar atrapado bajo la placa y provocar un riesgo de explosión.
