Metales de aporte para soldar
Puede soldar aluminio a la mayoría de los metales fácilmente mediante una unión adhesiva o una fijación mecánica. Sin embargo, para soldar aluminio con acero se requieren técnicas especiales.
La soldadura directa por arco de metales como acero, cobre, magnesio o titanio con aluminio produce compuestos intermetálicos muy frágiles. Para evitarlo, debe aislar el otro metal del aluminio fundido durante el proceso.
Hay tres técnicas habituales que se pueden usar para soldar con éxito aluminio con acero.
La creación de insertos de transición bimetálicos es un método popular que se usa cuando se suelda aluminio con acero. Este método se usa a menudo para producir conexiones soldadas de excelente calidad en aplicaciones estructurales.
Los insertos de transición bimetálicos son secciones de material que contienen una parte de aluminio con partes iguales de acero o acero inoxidable. Los insertos ya están unidos al aluminio. Se utilizan diversos métodos para unir estos materiales diferentes y formar la transición bimetálica. Estos métodos son, por ejemplo: laminación, soldadura por explosión, soldadura por fricción, soldadura instantánea (o soldadura por presión caliente) y soldadura por arco.
La soldadura por arco de los insertos de transición bimetálicos de acero y aluminio se realiza a través de métodos normales de GMAW o GTAW. Un lado del inserto es de acero soldado con acero. El otro es de aluminio soldado con aluminio.
Realizar primero una soldadura de aluminio con aluminio ayuda a evitar que los insertos se sobrecalienten. También proporciona una reducción de calor más grande cuando se realiza la soldadura de acero con acero.

Otro método que se utiliza mucho para soldar con éxito aluminio con acero es el recubrimiento por inmersión. También se conoce comúnmente como aluminización por inmersión en caliente. En este método, el acero se recubre con aluminio antes de soldar el acero y el aluminio.
Una vez revestido, el elemento de acero se puede soldar por arco al elemento de aluminio. Se debe tener cuidado para evitar que el arco incida sobre el acero. Se debe usar una técnica específica durante la soldadura para dirigir el arco sobre el elemento de aluminio. La técnica también permite que el aluminio fundido del baño de fusión fluya hacia el acero revestido de aluminio.
Otro método de revestimiento para soldar aluminio con acero es la soldadura fuerte. Incluye el recubrimiento de la superficie del acero con soldadura de plata. Después se sueldan las piezas entre sí utilizando una aleación de aporte de aluminio. ?
