ESAB Retrofit Solutions modernize critical components within existing welding automation systems, helping improve reliability, productivity, and compatibility without replacing the entire installation.
Why It Matters
Replacing an entire welding automation system can be costly, disruptive, and unnecessary when much of the existing installation still has value. ESAB Retrofit Solutions provide a practical path forward. By upgrading aging power sources, controls, flux-handling equipment, motion systems, communications, and electrical components, you can improve performance while continuing to use the equipment and infrastructure already in place.
what we do
Legacy transformer-based or older power sources can be replaced with supported modern inverter-based equipment, such as applicable Aristo systems.
Benefits include
Older controllers can limit usability, process visibility, and access to modern system functions. ESAB can upgrade applicable legacy controls to supported interfaces such as EAC 10 or EAC 30.
Modern flux feed and recovery systems can improve the efficiency and cleanliness of submerged arc welding operations. Depending on the application, retrofit options can include supported OPC, TPC, FFRS, and related flux-handling solutions.
Aging positioning, tracking, or motion components can contribute to inconsistent movement and unnecessary rework. Retrofits can include supported positioning systems, joint tracking, and motion-control components such as applicable PAV and GMH solutions.
Older equipment can be difficult to connect with current PLCs, control architectures, and digital production systems. Communication retrofits can introduce supported protocols and interface modules, including applicable Profinet and EtherNet/IP solutions.
A retrofit can also address aging cabling, electrical components, enclosures, and supported safety-system interfaces.
benefits
Continue using serviceable mechanical structures, equipment, and infrastructure while replacing outdated or unsupported components.
Achieve significant performance improvements without the expense of purchasing and installing an entirely new system.
More targeted upgrades can require less installation time and downtime than full equipment replacement.
Replacing aging components helps keep existing welding automation systems productive and serviceable for longer.
Upgrade controls, communications, motion systems, power sources, and flux-handling to meet changing production needs.
Compatibility-focused planning helps identify equipment, interface, software, and configuration concerns before installation begins.
Commissioning and functional testing can confirm that approved components and interfaces operate as intended before handover.
