Sometimes called “the Olympics of the skilled trades,” SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry representatives working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. Secondary and post-secondary students compete in regional, state, national and world competitions to determine who is the best of the best in welding and other trade skills. In the Texas competition alone, more than 8,000 SkillsUSA Texas students showcased their talents in more than 140 Career and Technical Education (CTE) categories.
“SkillsUSA competitors train like championship athletes, and the support, mentorship and motivation provided by industry representatives like ESAB is essential for growing their skills,” says, Dean L. Matzo, Vice President - Technical Services, Quality & Warranty at Trinity Industries and member of the board of directors for SkillsUSA, Texas Association, High School Secondary Division. “The winning high school students were floored with the ESAB’s generous prize packages.”
