ESAB Supports SkillsUSA Texas Championship - Awards Prize Packages to Welding Competition Winners

North Bethesda, Md. – As part of its Future Fabricators program, ESAB has donated welding prize packages to first, second and third place winners in the High School Welding, Welding Fabrication and Welding Sculpture competitions at the recent SkillsUSA Texas Championships in Corpus Christi. Prizes awarded include a Rebel™ EMP 215ic multiprocess welder (ESAB’s premier compact welder), four Rogue™ EMP 210 multiprocess welders, four Victor® Medalist® oxy-fuel cutting outfits and four Savage™ A40 automatic welding helmets. Instructors associated with the students received a Savage A50 LUX automatic helmet. 

Sometimes called “the Olympics of the skilled trades,” SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry representatives working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. Secondary and post-secondary students compete in regional, state, national and world competitions to determine who is the best of the best in welding and other trade skills. In the Texas competition alone, more than 8,000 SkillsUSA Texas students showcased their talents in more than 140 Career and Technical Education (CTE) categories.

The Welding Fabrication contest were:
1.    Gold: Jacob Martin, Jasper Garcia, Payton Ford, A C Jones High School
2.    Silver: Clemente Arroyo, Keeton Russell, Samuel Miranda, AmTech Career Academy
3.    Bronze: Enrique Escobar, Banelly De Leon, Andy Guerra, La Joya High School

The Sculpture Competition winners were:
1.    Gold: Samantha Romero, PSJA High School
2.    Silver: Genavive Esparza, YISD Career and Technical Center
3.    Bronze: Samantha Carrizales, Angleton High School
