North Bethesda, Md. – ESAB introduces the HandyArc™ 1/8 ultra-portable Stick (SMAW) welder at FABTECH 2026 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The welder was designed for DIY enthusiasts, hobbyists, home repairs and anyone looking for an affordable, easy-to-use welding machine backed by one of the industry's most trusted names. The compact HandyArc measures 4.5 x 10.3 x 7.1 in., weighs just 6.3 lbs., and brings ESAB's industrial welding expertise to everyday fabrication and repair projects.
Whether repairing lawn equipment, building outdoor projects, tackling automotive repairs or learning to weld for the first time, the HandyArc 1/8’s intuitive front panel uses graphics based on electrode diameter and input voltage, helping new users quickly select the proper settings without complicated menus. The machine offers dual-voltage (120V/240V) operation, making it easy to weld almost anywhere. When connected to 120V primary, it has an output of 70 amps at 20% duty cycle for welding with 1/6-in. electrodes; on 240V input, it has an output of 160 amps at 15% cycle for welding with 1/16-, 1/8- or 3/32-in. electrodes.
“Many first-time welders are tempted by low-cost machines with unfamiliar brand names, but they often discover that inconsistent arc performance and limited support make learning more difficult,” says Bartosz Kutarba, Global Director Light Industrial Equipment, ESAB. “The HandyArc 1/8 gives customers a better alternative: a compact and affordable welder from a company that has spent more than a century building equipment professionals trust every day. It’s designed to help new welders succeed from their very first project.”
The HandyArc 1/8 features ESAB inverter technology for efficient power consumption while delivering smooth arc starts and reliable Stick welding performance with commonly used E6013 electrodes. Unlike many entry-level welders, the HandyArc 1/8 is supported by ESAB’s extensive welding expertise, customer support and global reputation for fabrication technology. It offers an ideal solution for homeowners, hobbyists, vocational training programs and maintenance users seeking dependable performance without unnecessary complexity.
The HandyArc 1/8 includes the power source, shoulder strap, electrode holder lead, work clamp lead and a 230V-to-120V power adapter.
