Annapolis Junction, Md. – The judges have made their final decision: the ESAB Rogue inverter ushers in a new era of welding capability. ESAB is pleased to announce that the Rogue ES 180i PRO Stick/TIG inverter has a 2021 Innovation Award from Professional Tool & Equipment News (PTEN) magazine for innovations that make vehicle diagnosis and repair easier and more efficient, as well as make shops more productive.
PTEN is part of the publishing group that also includes Motor Age, ABRN (Auto Body Repair News), Professional Distributor, Aftermarket Business World magazine and the VehicleServicePros.com website, all leading sources for service repair, collision repair and aftermarket distribution news.
“We want to thank PTEN judges and the magazine readers for this prestigious award,” says Jay Misas, a product marketing manager with ESAB. “We knew we had something great, but the award reaffirms that our Rogue series of compact welders sets a new standard for power, performance and price in the compact Stick/TIG inverter category.”
ESAB designed the Rogue ES 180i PRO inverter for Stick/TIG users who have been frustrated with entry-level product mediocrity. Rogue features next-level control technology that produces a smooth welding arc with all types of Stick electrodes, including E70818 and E6010. The Lift TIG function provides positive arc starts without the use of high frequency. Rogue delivers a stable TIG arc down to 10A, giving welders the control needed to work on thin metal or delicate components. The unit weighs 18.2 lbs., delivers a maximum output of 180A at 25 percent duty cycle, and uses 115V – 230V primary power.
Noting the Rogue’s portability and controls, one judge commented: “This welder sounded good on ‘paper’ but after checking out a few videos of it being unboxed and then used it sounds amazing. Small machine that’s lightweight, well built with easy to use controls, true lift start that was doubted at first but verified by all users. And capable of using a pedal for TIG welding.”
From a total of 137 product nominations, where each product was evaluated by PTEN’s third-party judging panel of industry experts, 23 companies were honored for their innovation with new tools and equipment to help auto repair professionals excel at their jobs.
