ESAB WARRIOR EDGE BOOMFEED WIRE FEEDER EXPANDS WELDING WORK AREA, KEEPS CABLES OFF THE FLOOR

North Bethesda, Md. – ESAB has launched its Warrior® Edge BoomFeed wire drive and Warrior Balance Boom System to expand the work envelope for MIG and flux cored welding with the Warrior Edge 500 CX & DX multiprocess welding power sources. The Warrior Balance Boom System also works with ESAB’s RobustFeed series of wire feeders and Warrior or Warrior Edge power sources. ESAB announced the news from booth #S29025 at FABTECH 2026 in Las Vegas. 

The Balance Boom system positions the Warrior Edge BoomFeed wire drive or RobustFeed wire feeder on a boom that extends up to 16 feet. With a standard 10- or 15-ft. gun cable, the work area has a diameter exceeding 50 ft, which benefits welding in trailer, truck, agricultural and construction equipment, pressure vessels, and structural applications. The boom rotates 350 degrees on top of a 6.5-ft. tall mast. From the horizontal position, the boom adjusts up 50 degrees and down 6 degrees, while a spring balances the systems for easy positioning. The mast mounts directly to a concrete floor or to an optional pallet base for repositioning the boom with a forklift. 

“On large weldments, managing cables, wire feeders and other equipment around the workpiece can take up valuable floor space, create unnecessary hazards and lead to damaged cables,” says Jeff Chittim, North America Senior Product Manager, ESAB. “The Warrior Balance Boom System moves the wire feeding system out of the operator’s way while keeping the controls close at hand. The result is a larger, cleaner work area that lets welders move more freely and focus on welding, not cable management.” 

The Warrior Edge BoomFeed’s Remote User Interface is mounted on the mast, putting welding controls within easy reach of the operator (while the RobustFeed controls remain on the wire feeder). The wire drive works with all of the Warrior Edge’s advanced WeldModes, including Advanced Pulse, CRAFT, and SPEED process for the Warrior Edge 500 CX; the Warrior Edge 500 DX adds THIN, ROOT and ROOT Pipe WeldModes.

The BoomFeed wire drive features ESAB’s award-winning PreciDrive for positive wire engagement and consistent performance with 0.023- to 5/64-inch diameter solid wires and 0.035 to 0.062 aluminum wires using ESAB’s push-pull MIG guns. Wire feed speed range is 32 to 1,378 IPM. Three Quick Job buttons enable operators to switch between pre-programmed weld schedules, while an RFID key card enables setting limits to improve repeatability and adherence to Weld Procedure Specifications. BoomFeed also incorporates ESAB’s TrueFlow digital gas control technology to optimize gas flow rates to ensure weld quality and prevent gas waste. 

The Warrior Edge BoomFeed can be configured for bulk drums, including the ESAB Marathon Pac Ultra and Alcotec AlumaPak™ bulk wire systems, reducing the frequency of wire changeovers while allowing the bulk package to remain away from the welding area.
