North Bethesda, Md. – ESAB has enhanced its Rogue ES and ET line of inverters by adding DC Pulsed Stick welding functionality to all three models in the series: the Rogue ES 151iP PRO and Rogue ES 201iP PRO Stick/Live TIG welders and the Rogue ET 201iP PRO, a TIG/Stick inverter that also offers a DC Pulsed TIG output and high-frequency (HF) TIG arc starts. All units can adjust Stick pulsing frequency between 0.2 and 100 Hz; the pulsed background current can be adjusted between 60 to 80 percent of peak current. Pulsed Stick welding provides more control over heat input to minimize warping and distortion when welding thinner materials and can improve out-of-position welding for better quality welds.
“Pulsed Stick welding reduces spatter for less cleaning and a better weld bead appearance and improves control over heat input,” says Vinicius Nunes, Product Marketing Director, ESAB. “Pulsing can minimize distortion when welding thin gauge materials, prevent burn-through on joints with poor fit-up, allieviate undercut and improve puddle control for welding out-of-posiition.”
Rogue welders are now in stock and available through standard distribution and online sales channels.
All Rogue ES and ET welders offer lightweight portability as well as the flexibility of 120 – 230V ± 15%, 50/60 Hz primary power and work well off generators with at least a 7 kW of output. Power Factor Correction (PFC) ensures a stable arc that is resistant to power fluctuations even while working off long extension cables up to 300 feet (12 AWG size).
All Rogue ES (“ESAB Stick”) and ET (“ESAB TIG”) power sources enable arc characteristics optimized for basic/rutile electrodes (e.g., 7018 and 6013) or cellulosic electrodes (e.g., 6010 and 6011). An adjustable Hot Start function increases current beyond the set value for a few milliseconds to help establish the arc. It especially helps with low-hydrogen electrodes, which can be notoriously difficult-to-start. Their adjustable Arc Force control increases amperage when the arc voltage drops below a preset threshold. As a result, operators can hold a shorter arc length without the electrode sticking, which is beneficial when welding in narrow gaps, in corners and out-of-position.
Rogue ES 151iP PRO and Rogue ES 201iP PRO provide a rated Stick welding output of 150 and 200 amps, respectively, at 25% duty cycle. The Rogue ES 151iP PRO welds with electrodes up to 1/8 in. and the Rogue ES 201iP PRO welds electrodes up to 5/32 in. Rogue ES 151iP PRO and 201iP PRO are portable and weigh just 18.2 lbs. and measure 15.8 x 6 x 10.4 in.
Using an optional TIG torch, Rogue ES welders can TIG weld mild steel or stainless steel with the Live TIG function which provides positive arc starts without the use of high frequency. It delivers a stable TIG arc down to 10 amps, giving welders the control they need to work on thin metal or delicate components.
The Rogue ET 201iP PRO inverter weighs 21.2 lbs., delivers a 200-amp TIG output at 25% duty cycle and features HF or Lift TIG arc starts. The model is ideal for mechanical contractors and those in general fabrication, maintenance and repair, rental, process pipe, food/beverage, farming and home workshops.
“When procedures call for a TIG root and Stick fill passes, the Rogue ET 201iP PRO produces X-ray quality results and meets the code requirement for non-contact arc starts,” says Nunes. “Choose the Rogue ET when you want full-featured TIG controls.
Functions include adjustable gas pre-flow time (0–5 s), adjustable start current (10–100% of value at arc start), upslope time (0–10 s), down slope time (0–10 s), adjustable end current (10–100% of the final current) and adjustable gas post-flow time (0.5–15 s).
The Rogue ET 201iP PRO has a pulsed DC TIG output range between 0.2 and 500 Hz pulses per second (PPS) and a background current adjustable from 10–100% of the welding current. Stainless steel fabricators and those working with thin metals or other heat-sensitive applications use pulsed DC TIG to control heat input, narrow the weld bead profile and increase travel speed.
