Denton, Tx. – Thermal Dynamics®, an ESAB brand, has launched the PAK 300i, the most powerful manual plasma cutting and gouging system in North America. With an output of 300 amps at 100% duty cycle, the PAK 300i has a recommended cut on mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum of up to 3-½ in. (90 mm) and can sever material up to 4 in. (100 mm). Thermal Dynamics launched the product in booth W3801 at FABTECH, October 15 – 17 in Orlando, Florida.
“The PAK 300 improves cutting and gouging productivity because it offers 100 amps more output than competitive manual plasma systems,” says Dirk Ott, VP – Global Mechanized Plasma Systems, Thermal Dynamics. “The PAK 300i works well in heavy industrial applications because plasma cutting is faster than oxy-fuel cutting and offers the flexibility of cutting carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, brass and bronze. In addition, plasma arc gouging is a faster, more economical, and cleaner method of removing metal compared to manual carbon arc gouging, especially on stainless steel.”
The PAK 300i offers dual gas capabilities for superior quality and performance on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It can use air, nitrogen or H35 for the plasma gas; the secondary gas can be air or nitrogen. The PAK 300i comes with the proven PT-26P water-cooled torch with a 70-degree head angle and 50-ft. cable. A Tip Saver function ensures that any accidental contact between the tip and the work at high power levels will not damage the tip, extending tip life.
Applications include scrap cutting, heavy fabrication, mold and foundry operations (removal of sprues and gates, repairs), railroad and railcar maintenance, vessel manufacturing, pipe beveling and fabrication, petroleum refineries, chemical plants, mining operations, power generation and ship building.
“The PAK 300i also works great for back-gouging in structural applications and removal of hardfacing build-up, such as on heavy equipment,” says Ott. “This system is an excellent replacement for older, less powerful plasma systems and eliminates the need to parallel systems for higher outputs.”
Thermal Dynamics brings intelligence to the automated plasma table with a suite of fully- integrated components that enable users to orchestrate the fastest cut, best cut and lowest cost per cut regardless of operator experience. Visit www.thermal-dynamics.com to learn more.
